SOI Devices, Technology and Applications
This one day course will provide answers on why SOI (Silicon-On-Insulator)?
What are the advantages and
challenges associated with SOI? Will SOI ever replace bulk CMOS? Silicon-on-insulator (SOI) CMOS technology is very attractive
for deep-submicron applications because it provides near-ideal device properties such as low parasitic capacitance, sharp subthreshold
slope, low body-effect coefficient, reduced short-channel effects, increased transconductance, latch-up free characteristics and
better immunity to soft errors. The seminar will discuss the current status of the SOI technology, various types of SOI devices
and their performance and tradeoffs, SOI materials (e.g. smart-cut wafers), device physics, circuit applications and
performance (e.g. low-voltage, low-power CMOS and BiCMOS circuits).
WHAT THE COURSE COVERS: |
- Understand the current status of SOI technology
