The first part of the course covers a short overview of semiconductor design and fabrication steps such as IC design techniques, wafer processing, assembly and packaging. Semiconductor jargon such as process nodes, high and low-k materials, various types of substrates such as Si, SiGe, FDSOI, GaAs. Discuss various types of transistors such as pMOS, nMOS, Bipolar, BiCMOS, CMOS and FinFets.
The second part of course covers semiconductor business such as silicon economics, wafer processing cost, semiconductor revenue forecast, semiconductor driving forces, top semiconductor IDMs, semiconductor competitors based on market share, OEMs, foundries, top tool vendors. The course will discuss semiconductor markets such as PC, memory, wireless, handsets, consumer electronics, automotive, gaming, displays, digital TV, analog, discretes, MEMS and optoelectronics. Will also cover the fastest semiconductor growth markets based on geographic locations and applications.
