Definition
A volatile semiconductor memory technology that stores data as electrical charge in DRAM cells and must periodically refresh that charge because the stored charge leaks away over time.
Application
Used as high-density working memory in computing systems; cells are organized into arrays and banks and are accessed through wordlines and bitlines, with refresh operations preserving data while power is applied.
