Definition
A rectifying metal–semiconductor contact whose interfacial energy barrier produces strongly different current flow under forward and reverse bias.
Application
Used to form the rectifying junction of a Schottky diode and the gate contact of a metal–semiconductor field-effect transistor (MESFET).
