Definition
A field-programmable gate array (FPGA) is a reconfigurable semiconductor integrated circuit whose logic functions and interconnections are configured after manufacturing using programmable logic blocks, routing resources, memory, and other embedded hardware.
Application
FPGAs let designers implement and later reconfigure custom digital hardware for prototyping, acceleration, communications, control, and embedded systems without fabricating a new ASIC for each logic change.
