III-V Semiconductor

02 Materials, Wafers & Crystal

Definition

A III-V semiconductor is a compound semiconductor formed from elements in groups III and V of the periodic table, a material family used for electronic and optoelectronic devices where properties such as high carrier mobility or direct bandgaps are advantageous.

Application

III-V materials are integrated with silicon and other platforms to build high-speed transistors, lasers, optical amplifiers, photodetectors, and heterogeneous photonic integrated circuits.
