Definition
The effective drain-to-source resistance of a transistor, commonly a MOSFET, while it is in the conducting on state under specified bias conditions.
Application
A key conduction-loss metric for power MOSFET selection, design, and characterization; lower RDS(on) generally reduces resistive loss at a given current.
