Definition
A vector field that gives the electric force per unit positive test charge; in semiconductor devices it is also related to the spatial change in electric potential and drives carrier drift.
Application
Used to analyze carrier transport, junction depletion, MOS gate control, high-field velocity effects and dielectric or junction breakdown throughout semiconductor devices.
