Definition
Program/erase cycling is the repeated performance of program and erase operations on flash memory; cycling endurance is the ability to continue those operations within the specified P/E-cycle limit.
Application
Used to qualify flash-memory endurance and retention because repeated P/E stress can degrade the dielectric or tunnel oxide, reduce endurance capability, and shorten data-retention time.
