Definition
A conventional crystalline silicon wafer or substrate in which the device layer is part of a continuous silicon body rather than being separated from a base substrate by a buried insulating layer.
Application
Used as a starting substrate for bulk CMOS integrated circuits and as a comparison substrate when evaluating silicon-on-insulator technologies.
