Definition
Unwanted electrical interference in which a changing signal on one interconnect induces a voltage or timing disturbance on a neighboring interconnect through capacitive, inductive or combined electromagnetic coupling.
Application
Analyzed during IC physical design and signoff because dense, fast-switching interconnects can create delay shifts, glitches, waveform distortion or timing failure on neighboring nets. Spacing, shielding, routing and dielectric choices are used to reduce it.
