Definition
Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) is a structured, preventive risk-analysis method that identifies ways a design or process can fail, evaluates the effects and causes of those failures, and prioritizes actions to reduce risk.
Application
In semiconductor manufacturing, design and process teams can use FMEA to rank potential device, process, equipment, assembly, or test failures and focus prevention, controls, and corrective actions on the most consequential risks.
